Bloom
Bloom is decoration that grows with the value it decorates. Each branch is a finished milestone and blossoms in viridian, the colour for done. It is seeded from the record ID, so a record always grows the same plant.
Move the slider. The plant grows or prunes to match, then rests.
Anatomy
When to use
- Values that accumulate: milestones, occupancy, collections.
- Places where a little delight is earned: a project page, a completed checklist.
- Not as a chart. Bloom shows progress, not precision; the number beside it does that.
Behaviour
- Grows only when its value changes, then rests. It never loops.
- The same record ID always grows the same plant, so people recognise their own.
- With Still on, it draws the final plant at once.
Best practices
- Always show the value in words beside the plant.
- Use viridian only for finished work.
- Keep it small. Bloom is a flourish, not a hero.
Accessibility
- The plant is hidden from assistive tech; the value is the label.
- Its colours carry no meaning that the number doesn’t.
