Fill
Fill is form filling by the model. Every field it fills is marked as its work, with the passage it came from one tap away. A field it couldn’t find stays empty and says so, and a field only a person may fill stays theirs.
Fill the tenant application from the ACRA profile and the heads of terms. Tap a source to see the passage behind a value; the rent and deposit show how they were worked out. The fit-out period isn’t in either document, and the signature is yours.
Anatomy
When to use
- When a form can be filled from documents people already have: applications, KYC checks, lease abstracts, invoices.
- When each value needs to be checkable against its source.
- Not for fields a person writes from scratch. Show the reach of the field instead (Caret).
Behaviour
| Field | Shows | Person can |
|---|---|---|
| Filled from a document | Value in tyrian with its source | Open the passage, edit, accept |
| Worked out | Value with its working: “3 × S$21,780” | Check the sum |
| Not found | Empty, with “Not in either document” | Fill it in |
| Person only | Empty ring; never filled | Fill it in |
Accepting removes the underline but keeps the colour. A value the model filled stays the model’s until a person types over it.
Best practices
- Cite the exact place: “HoT · §3 Rent”, “ACRA · Page 1”.
- Mark the words in the passage that the value came from.
- Show the working for any value that was calculated rather than copied.
- Leave a field empty rather than guess, and say why it is empty.
Accessibility
- Each source button names the document and location: “Source for Deposit: Heads of terms v3, §5 Deposit”.
- The passage opens after its field, in reading order.
- The summary counts filled, not found and person-only fields in words.
